About the role
We are seeking a strategic Director of Marketing to lead the full marketing and communications function. This pivotal role will be a key member of the leadership team responsible for developing and nurturing the company’s brand, voice, and values; leading and executing comprehensive marketing strategies that drive brand awareness, generate qualified leads, and support the company's ambitious growth objectives; and build and manage a high-performing marketing team, ensuring alignment with sales goals and overall business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic leadership:
○ Develop and implement a holistic marketing communications strategy that encompasses brand positioning, sales enablement, digital marketing, content strategy, and public relations aligned with business goals
○ Identify competitive landscapes, emerging technology, and customer insights to drive innovation in marketing approaches
○ Define and manage the overall marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources for maximum ROI
Team leadership and development:
○ Recruit, mentor, and lead a small but high-performing marketing team
○ Manage the company’s B2B marketing agency of record, ensuring they deliver maximum value by meeting measurable KPIs
Digital marketing and lead generation:
○ Oversee all digital marketing channels, including SEO, SEM, social media, email marketing, and website to maximize brand awareness, lead generation, and customer acquisition
○ Develop a focused content strategy that supports the customer journey with whitepapers, case studies, webinars, blog posts, fact sheets, and videos, nurturing prospective customers through to a seamless handoff to the sales team
○ Leverage data and analytics to continuously optimize digital campaigns and improve KPIs
○ Lead media relations, events, and thought leadership initiatives to enhance brand reputation and industry presence
○ Manage the company’s CRM and content publishing platform
Communications:
○ Define and champion the brand identity, messaging, and voice across all internal and external communications channels
○ Establish an internal communications strategy that will engage and invigorate team members to work to achieve the company’s business objectives
○ Lead customer communications across all touchpoints, consistently implementing feedback to improve effectiveness
○ Develop and manage the Company’s crisis communication plan, with a focus on customer issues response
Sales alignment:
○ Work closely with the sales leadership to align marketing strategies with sales targets and provide necessary tools, content, and insights to empower the sales team
○ Implement feedback loops between marketing and sales to continuously refine strategies and improve lead quality
Analysis and reporting:
○ Formulate a reporting dashboard that measures KPIs for all marketing and communications activities
○ Regularly analyze marketing performance data, reporting strategic insights and recommendations to the leadership team
Required skills and qualifications:
● Minimum 10 years of progressively senior experience in marketing
● Strategic thinker with a strong analytical mindset and the ability to translate data into actionable insights
● Extensive experience in B2B marketing, ideally within the technology, IT infrastructure, or data centre industry
● Past experience in industry event management
● Experience in partner relationships, including co-marketing with data centre brokers, marketplaces, and OEM communities
● Deep understanding of Canadian and North American data centre, AI, and cloud markets
● Good understanding of data centre technical principles, including space, power, cooling, network, and cloud
● Demonstrated success in developing and executing successful, data-driven marketing strategies that have driven measurable business growth
● Deep expertise across SEO, SEM, social media, email, content marketing, and other digital advertising channels
● Strong leadership and team management skills
● Proven ability to drive results in media relations, customer communication, and internal communication
● Experience managing industry events and speaking opportunities for senior leaders
● Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
● Proficiency with HubSpot or similar CRM/marketing automation platforms
● Bachelor's and/or Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field
