About the role
Reporting to the Manager Network Services, working with the Network and Security Architect this advanced role serves as the Network Planner for networking projects within Qu Data Centers (QDC) network services and customer Managed Network Services at multiple data centers nationwide by supporting senior level business and technology discussions while actively participating in network projects and administration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate long-term evolution plans leveraging existing designs, and strategies
  • Consolidate QDC network and services infrastructure requirements
  • Provide effective feedback easily understood that benefits design decisions
  • Stay current on the technologies, tools, policies and standards
  • Ensure corporate security policies are reflected and adhered to
  • Support transition of projects from architecture inception to project realization
  • Develop requirements, principles and models for future network and services
  • Define and recommend lifecycle roadmap of complex products
  • Engage in decision maker discussions related to infrastructure architecture
  • Collaborate with other teams to eliminate risks within network and services
  • Adhere to all controls and compliance processes SOC1, SOC2, PCI and ISO 27001
Experience / Education / Certification:
  • 3+ years of experience in data centers infrastructure architecture and planning
  • 5+ years of experience in senior technical role in engineering and operations
  • 8+ years of experience with the design and implementation of a broad range of data centers network and services infrastructure solutions
  • Ability to produce solutions both independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated ability to apply architectural experience, both conceptual and logical to implementation of complex technology environments
  • Experience with data center infrastructure, facilities management and monitoring is an asset
  • IP Networking, internetworking, ITIL based design and implementation experience
  • Working experience with data center networks and services infrastructure virtualization is an asset
  • Post-graduate degree with courses in computer engineering, computer science, system engineering, software architecture or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Professional certification in data center network operations and security design is preferred
  • Professional certification in data center services design and implementation is desirable
Essential Skills:
  • Expert understanding of data center network and services infrastructure
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly, orally and verbally, with colleagues
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills • Solid understanding of deployed technologies
  • Positive attitude with a desire to constantly improve
  • Experience with broad range of network equipment from Cisco and Fortinet and associated protocols (TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, VPN, MPLS, routing, switching, firewalls) is mandatory
  • Familiarity with load-balancing concepts and platforms is preferred
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems is preferred
  • Awareness of cloud and network virtualization concepts and operations e.g. VmWare is preferred
